Playing with gadgets

I've finally persuaded my husband to get me an iphone so I can keep in touch with everything wherever I go. Mainly it's because I want to watch/listen to my favourite programmes whenever I want using the iplayer facilities. People keep telling me I'm too old to be using such things but I disagree - I've never got past twenty mentally!

It's a fascinating piece of kit. The camera is wonderful and now they have upgraded it so you can send and receive pictures (I couldn't believe the lack of this common facility when we first got the things...) I can see it being really useful.

I keep this blog unlisted because I don't want people to read it - so why am I doing it then? Don't ask me, perhaps I may come out of the closet later. For now I'm unsure as to how such things are going to be used/abused. It is a good way of keeping a diary, and maybe I'll let some people view it by emailing them the addy.

I've been ill this week, another bad tummy bug - keep picking them up, I think from school, not sure what to do about them and I'm sure the school is fed up with my having time off!
Still, until they come up with a portaloo you can easily attach to your bottom I have no choice. Enough of the toilet humour :-)

I've also been contacted by the Times Lit Supplement who have picked my name from a debate that has been ongoing in their forum. I should know better than to trust the press - particularly the far right - but they are supposed to be objective at the Times. Time will tell...

Back to writing - at last!

Standing at the patio doors enjoying the views of the back garden close to the best time in the year. The rhodedendron is just beginning to flower and for two weeks it will look glorious. But then the flowers go and it becomes hard work as I spend a whole day taking off the seedheads. My husband Tim doesn't like the rhodie but I think this little corner of the garden looks delightful. What do you think?
Well I haven't posted in the blog for over a year. I couldn't find it! And me, a worker in the IT industry for over 27 years - I can't get used to how easy it is to publish your life.

Recently I was privileged to be able to read my aunt's diary, written in 1954 - two years before I was born - when she was in hospital being treated for TB, a disease that is rarely heard of in Britain today but back then, and for centuries before, a killer that took the lives of many people.

I have to give the diary back soon and need to write it up. I am also on the last leg of the creative writing courses. I'm doing OK on them, but not getting enough marks to think about publishing yet. Why am I always looking for approval from others?
